At Laser Aesthetics, skin tag removal is performed using advanced laser technology. This approach allows for precise removal with minimal disruption to the surrounding skin, and is performed in a safe, medically supervised setting — never as a DIY or unsupervised salon treatment.
What to Expect: Your Skin Tag Removal Journey
1. Consultation & Assessment
Your visit begins with a thorough consultation with Dr. McDonald. During this assessment, we'll examine your skin tags to confirm they are benign, discuss your goals, and determine the safest and most effective removal approach for your specific case. This step is essential — some skin growths can resemble skin tags but require different evaluation, which is why a professional assessment matters.
2. The Procedure
Skin tag removal is typically a quick, in-office procedure. Most patients are able to have several skin tags addressed in a single visit, depending on their number and location.
3. Aftercare & Recovery
Following your treatment, you'll receive clear aftercare instructions to support healing. Keep the treated area clean and dry, washing gently with mild soap and water twice daily; avoid swimming, baths, or soaking the area for the first 48 hours. You should protect the area from direct sun exposure for at least 2 to 3 weeks using clothing or a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ to minimize scarring or discoloration. Refrain from strenuous exercise for the first 24 to 48 hours to prevent sweat irritation. A small scab or blister will form within a few days and naturally fall off within 7 to 14 days; do not pick or scratch at the area. Contact our clinic immediately if you experience signs of infection, such as spreading redness, swelling, severe pain, yellow pus, or a fever. Most patients are able to resume their normal daily activities shortly after treatment, with minimal visible signs that a procedure was performed.
Our team is available to answer any questions before, during, and after your treatment, ensuring you feel confident and informed throughout the process.
