Laser Aesthetics provides Laser Vein Therapy for Brantford patients from our Burlington clinic. This treatment may be recommended for spider veins and certain small visible veins on the legs and other areas of the body. In some cases, laser treatment is used on its own, while in others it may complement sclerotherapy to improve overall results.

For patients who prefer a non-injection option, laser vein treatment may be worth considering. During your consultation, our medical team will assess your concerns and recommend the treatment approach that is most appropriate for your vein type, treatment area, and goals.

What Is Laser Vein Therapy and How Does It Work?

Laser Vein Therapy uses targeted light energy to treat visible blood vessels. The treated vessel gradually fades as the body clears it over time. This treatment is most often used for spider veins and certain small superficial veins, although the best approach depends on the size, depth, and location of the veins being treated.

There are different types of laser-based vein treatment depending on the vein concern being addressed. Surface laser treatment is performed externally on top of the skin and is commonly used for spider veins and other very small superficial veins. Multiple sessions are often recommended, with treatments typically spaced several weeks apart based on your provider’s recommendations.

Endovenous laser treatment is a more advanced procedure used for larger varicose veins in the legs. In this type of treatment, a laser fibre is inserted into the vein through a thin catheter, and the vein is treated internally under ultrasound guidance. This is different from surface laser treatment and is used for larger vein concerns.

During your consultation, we can help determine whether laser vein therapy is appropriate for your specific vein condition and whether another treatment, such as sclerotherapy, may be more suitable.

What Can Laser Vein Therapy Treat?

Laser Vein Therapy may be used to improve the appearance of:

  • Spider veins on the legs
  • Small visible superficial veins
  • Certain veins that are not ideal for injection-based treatment
  • Veins in areas where a non-injection option may be preferred

Because vein concerns vary from patient to patient, a consultation is the best way to determine whether laser treatment is a suitable option for you.

Laser Vein Therapy and Sclerotherapy

Laser Vein Therapy is sometimes used alongside sclerotherapy as part of a customized treatment plan. Sclerotherapy is often a preferred option for many leg veins, while laser treatment may be useful for smaller vessels or in cases where injections are not ideal.

Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, we assess the size, depth, and location of the veins before recommending treatment. Our goal is to guide you toward the option that is best suited to your situation.

What to Expect After Treatment

Recovery after laser vein treatment is often straightforward, especially after surface laser treatment. Many patients are able to return to normal daily activities shortly afterward.

Depending on the treatment performed, aftercare instructions may include:

  • Walking after treatment
  • Avoiding certain activities temporarily
  • Wearing compression stockings if recommended
  • Attending follow-up visits as advised

If endovenous laser treatment is performed, compression stockings are commonly worn for at least one week, and ultrasound follow-up may be used to confirm that the treated vein has closed properly.

Because results develop gradually, improvement may continue over several weeks or months after treatment.

Are There Any Risks?

As with any medical procedure, Laser Vein Therapy can involve potential side effects. These may include temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, skin discoloration, blistering, and, in less common cases, scarring.

Your provider will review possible risks, expected recovery, and suitability during your consultation. Treatment recommendations are based on your vein type, skin condition, and medical history.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

Several sessions are often recommended for best results, especially when treating spider veins or multiple areas. The number of treatments depends on the size and number of veins being treated, the treatment method used, and how your body responds over time.

Some veins improve quickly, while others can take several weeks or months to fade.

Multiple sessions are often recommended, depending on the number and size of the veins being treated and your individual response to treatment.

BTL EMSELLA is a new service now being offered here, and if you are someone like me who has lived her life with too many bathroom breaks, I would recommend giving this treatment a try. I have dealt with a sensitive bladder for most of my life, and to say the least, this has been inconvenient. I was getting up at least once a night and whenever I was out looking for the closest washroom. When I heard about this treatment being offered, I decided to give it a try. Six sessions over 3 weeks. Nothing invasive or painful. My experience so far has been liberating in that I am no longer having an interrupted sleep and can wander the mall for a few hours before scoping out the nearest washroom. In my opinion this has been totally worth it.
